Dozens of people have been killed by Israeli strikes in Lebanon, including 20 who died after a strike flattened a multi-story residential building in central Beirut overnight, according to Lebanese officials.

Red Alert sirens were activated in central Israel by a barrage of six rockets fired from Lebanon Sunday morning. The barrage also set off alarms in areas of northern Israel. No casualties have been reported so far.

The wide-scale bombardment continued a day after a U.S. envoy held talks with Israeli officials on a possible cease-fire with Hezbollah militants.

FOUR ITALIAN PEACEKEEPERS have been injured in what the United Nations has described as a suspected Hezbollah rocket incident at their base in South Lebanon. UNIFIL has said that the location of the incident is the Sector West Headquarters in Shama.
