Mumbai: Former Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis , contacted caretaker CM Eknath Shinde to inquire about his health after Shinde visited his native village in Satara following deterioration of health.

Despite vociferous demands from Shiv Sena leaders that Shinde should have a go at another term at the top post, the caretaker CM on Wednesday made it clear that he has told PM Modi and Shah that he abide by the BJP’s choice for the post.

The formal announcement on CM will be done after the BJP legislative party meeting in Mumbai in a day or two after party MLAs appoint the leader of the state legislative party.

In addition to the BJP's dominance with 132 seats in the 288-member Assembly, the Shiv Sena secured 57 seats, and Ajit Pawar’s NCP faction won 41 seats, enabling the Mahayuti alliance to form a government comfortably.
